From your hosts

My grandfather built this house in 1962, when Njarðvík was mostly fishing boats and the base. We opened it to guests in 2014 because it was too big for the two of us and too nice to sell.

We live on the ground floor, so if the key box gives you trouble at 2 a.m., knock. Really.

Questions people ask

My flight lands at 1 a.m. Can I still check in?

Yes. We send you a code for the key box on the morning of your arrival. Your room will be ready and the hallway light left on.

Can we leave luggage after checking out?

Of course. There's a locked room by the door. Leave your bags there until your flight, at no charge.

Is it suitable for children?

Loftið, the attic room, has a bunk bed and fits a family of four. We have a travel cot and a high chair; just ask.

Do you allow pets?

Sorry, no. Some of our guests have allergies.

What is your cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival. After that we charge the first night.

Can we see the northern lights from here?

On clear nights between September and April, often yes. The harbour wall is the darkest spot nearby. We'll knock if they're out and you ask us to.
